‘Academic’ report on Electric Bikes

I came across this interesting report from two researchers at Warwick University about trends and possible futures for electric bike sales. It’s very readable and food for thought.

It would be great if more people took to any sort of cycle but the enormous advantages and potentials of electric cycling in the UK have yet to be realised. I imagine and hope that there will be a steady rise in the sales of e-bikes. This may hopefully bring down prices as new markets are opened and mass production becomes more attractive. There will also be more competition between the top manufacturers regarding pricing. There will be greater research and development, especially of batteries which at present are horribly expensive (and checking the price of replacement or additional batteries for a particular bike can be a vital buying point).
